Founded by artist Rachael Calderin, who is in recovery herself, Burning Branch Studio was built from personal experience and a deep belief that art saves lives. Inspired by flora, fauna, and the organic beauty of molten glass, Rachael's work is equal parts passion and mission, creating a safe space for anyone ready to grow.

Our studio is located at 1686 Kirkwood Pike, Kirkwood, PA 17536.
Although we don't follow a strict schedule, we are generally open Wednesday through Sunday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. If you are planning a visit, call ahead to make sure the shop is open.
No experience needed. Our glassblowing classes are designed for complete beginners as well as those with a little more experience. You will be guided through every step of the process.
Very hands-on. You will go through the entire process of creating your piece from beginning to end with step-by-step guidance from our instructors. Your instructor will demonstrate the process first, then it is your turn. We offer as much or as little assistance as you need to make something amazing.
Our private classes are exactly that — private. You and your group have the studio and instructor entirely to yourselves for 2 hours. Everyone chooses what they want to make, and the instructor focuses solely on your group. For groups of 6 or more, sessions can sometimes run 2.5 to 3 hours.
Our Make Your Own (MYO) events are ticketed events held 2 to 3 times each month. Each event has a seasonal theme — ornaments in December, pumpkins in the fall, flowers in the spring, and so on. Sessions are 1 hour long with up to 5 people per time slot, and everyone makes the same themed piece.
Absolutely. We encourage an open studio concept at Burning Branch. You are welcome to stop by during our open hours to ask questions, watch us work, and get a feel for the space before committing to a class. We want you to feel comfortable before you ever pick up a blowpipe.
We welcome children as young as 6. We leave the level of participation up to the parent or guardian's discretion — you know your child better than we do. We also encourage parents to assist their child at the bench, as children are generally more comfortable and receptive with a familiar face guiding them.
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing made from natural fibers like cotton, fitted closer to the body. Closed-toe shoes you can stand in comfortably. If you wear glasses or readers, bring them. Safety glasses are provided for those who wear contacts or no glasses. Tie back long hair.
In warmer months the studio gets very warm, so dress lightly. In cooler months, wear layers since it heats up quickly near the furnace. There is a changing area if you want to bring studio clothes.
Please do not wear: synthetic fabrics like polyester, high heels or open-toe shoes, dresses or skirts, loose or baggy clothing, or cropped shirts and micro shorts (shorts to the knee are fine).
