I began working with glass in 2007, after endless jobs left me feeling wanting more. I decided to get my teaching degree after backpacking in Europe where I met a special lady on a train who helped me realize I wanted to teach others. I was then accepted into Tyler School of Art. Here I was introduced into the world of glassblowing. From the moment I entered the glass studio, I knew this was for me.
After school I began creating glass for a company in the lighting business. From there I furthered my learning at Pilchuck Glass School, where I was able to learn more on glass sculpting. I then worked at another local glass studio for a few years.
I started Burning Branch Studio as a Non-Profit to help give back to my community and local art programs. As a recovering alcoholic the non-profit shifted a few years later as art therapy for other recovering addicts. Here I wanted to create a safe space to create, connect and heal.
Blowing glass is my passion and my personal art therapy as well. I am also greatly inspired by nature. My work is influenced by flora and fauna and it shows through creating very organic bodies of work.
Being in recovery myself, I find my work to be an essential part of my path to growth and healing. I want to share with my community of people struggling with addictions of all kinds (and those who are not) that recovery is possible. Any tools given on my path are worth trying.
